one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic pottery thoughtfully designed and crafted by
Cat Carrier aka Cat But Human
I believe in bringing joy, creativity, and personality to people's daily routine by
integrating art into their everyday lives. So I create products that prove that focusing
on aesthetics does not mean you need to compromise functionality or quality.

meet Cat
who, despite their name, is in fact a human.
Hi! I'm Cat. I make stuff.
I've been creating for my whole life: painting, drawing, sewing, crocheting, and sculpting. I came to ceramics during college and like many people who try ceramics for the first time, I was hooked.
My current clay practice has two main branches: functional art and didactic sculpture.
What does that even mean???
Functional Art: In a time where living space is at a premium for everyone, I want to create pieces of art that justify the space they take up by having a function that contributes to the ease or enrichment of the owner's everyday routine.
Didactic Sculpture: Three dimensional sculptures that convey a message or narrative through metaphor. Basically, the world is on fire and I have something to say about that. The way I want to say it is through makig art.

What I Make
I primarily create functional art using ceramic clay. As I constantly refine designs, each small batch of items I make is slightly different than the one that came before it, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
While my current focus is on functional pottery, I was an oil painter before I became a potter, and also dabble in ceramic sculpture. I integrate both my painting and sculpting skills into my pottery to make everything as ✨aesthetic✨ as possible while still being practical and easy to use.
WHY I MAKE
My shift to functional pottery is rooted in my love for my community. Paintings and sculptures take a long time to produce, and the longer something takes to complete, the more costly it becomes. Part of optimizing functional pottery designs for me is making the creation process as efficient as possible. I want as many people as possible to be able to bring my art into their homes, while still appropriately valuing my time and skill, and small batch functional pottery is the best way I've found to do that.
Who I make for
My collectors are people who want to consciously curate their surroundings to bring creativity, lightness and joy into their lives. They are people who may not have much space for art in their homes, and so they want to replace boring and mundane parts of their daily routine with original artistic creations that provide the same function.
I feel connected to and have so much love for the people who collect my work. I am always so grateful when people want to bring a little piece of my brain into their home.
